Vice President Harris Has Been A Champion Of Race Equity & Health Justice 

BOSTON, MA — Community Catalyst Action Fund released the following statement on Vice President Kamala Harris’ positions on race equity and health justice, which includes her efforts to improve the health and economic livelihoods of people across the country, including most recently on medical debt. Recent polling from HIT Strategies shows that the Biden-Harris administration’s focus on medical debt has widespread support among voters.

“From her time as California State Attorney General to her time in the United States Senate and as Vice President, Kamala Harris has been a steadfast advocate and champion for race equity and health justice.

“From taking on corporate greed in health care, to addressing the medical debt crisis, working to improve Black maternal health and being a champion for reproductive freedom, Vice President Harris has proven time and time again that she not only talks the talk but walks the walk. 

“The Vice President understands that we need bigger and bolder solutions in order to make quality health care both affordable and accessible — from reforms that overhaul how we pay for health care, to eliminating unjust and predatory medical debt collection practices, she shares our vision of a society where health is a right for all.”

Community Catalyst has been driving a national medical debt campaign, alongside dozens of local, state and national partners, to advance policy priorities that are shaped by community perspective — and help those communities most disproportionately impacted by the crisis. This effort has seen tremendous success with the Biden-Harris administration, and there is still much more work ahead to deliver health and economic justice solutions that people want and need, especially those that have been harmed most by the system today.
